Hume Cardiac Centre
Transthoracic Echocardiography
This is a non-invasive ultrasound of the heart. It allows our specialists to see your heart’s chambers, valves, and the surrounding muscles in real-time. It is a vital tool for assessing heart function, detecting valve problems, measuring the thickness of the heart walls, and identifying any fluid buildup around the heart.
Pacemaker/ICD Check
Regular checks are essential for patients with implanted cardiac devices. Our team provides routine monitoring to ensure your pacemaker or Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) is functioning correctly. We check battery life, lead integrity, and the device’s ability to respond appropriately to your heart’s rhythm.
Exercise Stress Test (Stress ECG)
An exercise stress test involves monitoring your heart’s activity while you perform physical exercise, usually on a treadmill or stationary bike. This test helps our specialists determine how well your heart handles physical exertion, helping to identify any underlying issues such as coronary artery disease or heart rhythm abnormalities that might not appear while you are at rest.
Stress Echocardiogram
A stress echocardiogram combines an ultrasound of the heart (echocardiogram) with a stress test. By monitoring the heart’s structure and movement while it is under stress, we can get a detailed view of blood flow and identify any areas of the heart muscle that may not be receiving adequate oxygen or blood supply.
Holter Monitor
A Holter monitor is a portable device worn over the chest for 24 to 48 hours (or longer) to continuously record your heart’s electrical activity. It is used to detect irregular heartbeats, such as palpitations or arrhythmias, that occur intermittently and may not be captured during a standard 12-lead ECG in the clinic.
